Gang

a court has heard.
"The
frauds, who stole the cash from Westpac Bank
customers, offered vulnerable gamblers a commission
to help them move the money.
"The
County Court was told almost 40 people were
enlisted in the scam between May 2003 and May
2004. Each new recruit was encouraged to find
more participants.

account details of 75 unsuspecting clients.
"Prosecutor
Damien Hannan told the court funds from the
accounts were transferred via internet banking
to recruits' accounts, who were paid a share
of proceeds after withdrawing the cash.
"Recruits
were also paid $200 for every other gambler
enlisted at Crown…"
