Judge:
Tacoma Casino Remain Open

Tribune: "Tacoma casinos should remain
open until voters can decide whether to keep
or reject a gambling ban approved six years
ago by the City Council, a judge has ruled.
"Pierce
County Superior Court Judge Gary Steiner signed
an order Tuesday telling the City of Tacoma
to extend a moratorium on the ban – scheduled
to take effect Jan. 1 – until a special
election is held in March.
"Steiner
said he didn't want casino employees to lose
their jobs for three months waiting for a vote.
He called the decision the only 'appropriate'
and 'practical' thing to do, adding that he
believed it also was legally correct…"
