County to Review Casino Report
As reported by the California
Appeal-Democrat: "Yuba County will be able
to review an environmental impact statement
for the proposed Enterprise Rancheria hotel-casino
before a draft version of the document is released
for public comment.
"County
supervisors gave their consent Tuesday to join
the Bureau of Indian Affairs and National Indian
Gaming Commission when they convene sometime
in the future to review documents for the proposed
casino.
"…The
federal Bureau of Indian Affairs would be the
lead agency. Invitations have also been sent
to the Environmental Protection Agency, Fish
and Wildlife Service, Army Corps of Engineers
and Caltrans.
"County
officials must wait for the bureau to contact
them about future meeting times, places and
the ground rules, McClain said.
"The
Oroville-based Estom Yumeka Maidu tribe, better
known as Enterprise Rancheria, wants to build
a casino and hotel on a 40-acre parcel in an
entertainment zone in south Yuba County…"
