Calls for Moratorium on Slot Changes

Daily News: "City councilors on Monday
night unanimously adopted a resolve asking state
decision-makers to let Hollywood Slots at Bangor
run for three years before making any major
changes in the laws and rules that already have
been put into place.
"The idea is to allow time to
study the effects of current regulations before
making substantive changes that could either
scuttle or expand slots operations in Maine,
City Manager Edward Barrett said when the resolve
was first discussed earlier this month at a
meeting of the council's economic development
committee. The moratorium would not apply to
minor technical changes, he said.
"The resolve was the city's response to
the numerous slots-related bills that went before
state lawmakers last session…"
