Worker is Thankful
As reported by the Arizona Republic:
"For the first time in her life, Cherel
Bernard will celebrate Thanksgiving somewhere
other than New Orleans.
"Hurricane
Katrina drowned her Chateau Charles townhouse
in 18 feet of water and scattered her close-knit
family throughout Louisiana and Texas. She is
alone in Arizona, and it doesn't feel like Thanksgiving.

main banker at Harrah's Ak-Chin Casino in Maricopa,
Bernard escaped Hurricane Katrina with the clothes
on her back and found her way to her new life
with the help of total strangers. She worked
for Harrah's in New Orleans and was transferred
to Arizona after the storm.
"…Bernard,
42, misses her family, but she is thankful for
all these little things, which aren't so little
to her…"
