Sportingbet plc ‘best
in class’ says Power 50 survey By staffSportingbet
plc, one of the largest publicly traded online betting,
gambling and gaming businesses, is today celebrating
its position as the number one company world wide
in the industry, according to a comprehensive survey
by the publication egaming review. This is the second
year running that Sportingbet plc has received this
prestigious distinction.
The Power 50 survey judges businesses on scale,
reach, influence and diversity. “There is
no region or sector where Sportingbet is not among
the big players online and its innovative ground-breaking
attitude gives it a position of importance in the
egaming world not even PartyGaming can match in
July 2005,” egaming review said, summing up
its reasons for again awarding the gold prize to
Sportingbet.
Sportingbet plc was founded in 1998 and today enjoys
a market capitalization of over $US2 billion on
the London Stock Exchange. Its flagship US brands
are sportsbook.com and paradisepoker.com which Sportingbet
acquired last fall.
“We are extremely pleased to have won again,
in all categories,” said Sportingbet CEO Nigel
Payne. “According to the survey we were the
only top five firm to tick off all boxes under the
criteria that was set out a year ago. In addition,
egaming says our influence on every branch of the
online gaming business remains huge”.
“Our customers understand that we provide
the best gaming entertainment with the widest possible
choices, responsibly. We take very seriously the
role we play in the industry and that is why we
are leaders in the effort to deter underage and
excessive gambling. We have invested significant
resources in technology which provides a safe and
secure wagering environment,” Payne added.
