Developer Wants Referendum
As reported by the Wichita Business
Journal: "The Canadian developer putting
together a $300 million plan for turning Century
II into a destination casino says if area leaders
will commit to a referendum on expanded gaming,
he'll be ready to give voters something to talk

"Brian
Hamm says he's close to finalizing gaming and
financial partnerships for the project that
would add a casino with a 25-story, 400-room
hotel tower and additional convention space
onto the west side of Century II. The complex
also would connect to Expo Hall and the Hyatt
Regency Wichita's 300 hotel rooms.
"…Hamm
believes the future of expanded gaming in Wichita
or Sedgwick County rests on a voter referendum.

not to conduct such a referendum by area legislators
who say they are opposed to gaming…'
