Games Trump Gambling Machines in State Revenue
Newly authorized card
games such as blackjack and Texas hold 'em are
generating about six times as much money for
the state as new gambling machines that are
now allowed inside Oklahoma's tribal casinos.
Card games have produced $3.8 million in revenue
for the state, compared to $697,000 from Class
III electronic games, state records show.
"The deal, between Crown Casino
and the City Library, might also see Crown Casino
signs inside the Flinders Lane library.
"…The library, which could find
itself $400,000 short this financial year, spoke
to the casino last month about sponsorship.
"'City Library and Crown Casino have met
and have spoken about a potential sponsorship
proposal,' library spokesman Vince Keogh confirmed.
'We are looking at signage and book purchases,
which could include their name being identified
in the front or back of library books. But there
is no formal proposal on the table at the moment.'
