Casino Proposal Clears Hurdle

"Randy Winegard's proposal to build a casino
in Burlington cleared a hurdle Monday, as the
city's planning commission voted 3–2 in
favor of recommending that the City Council
approve the planned unit development.
"Winegard,
during Monday's regular commission meeting,
answered questions about his proposed casino,
which would be built next to his new FunCity,
and revealed other future plans for the site.
"…Should
Winegard get a stamp of approval from the city
and state to build the casino, he intends to
find out whether any movie theater companies
would be interested in operating a new facility
in the city, the entrepreneur said after the
meeting.
"Eric
Tysland, city planner, said the first phase
of the plan includes building a casino and banquet
facility with an attached three–level
parking deck to the north of Winegard's motel,
the Best Western Pzazz, and the new FunCity…"
