Gambling Crackdown Hurting Charities

3TV: "In Indiana, video gambling machines
could be found at neighborhood bars as well
as local VFW posts -- up until Indiana started
a crackdown on illegal gambling four months
ago. So far 11 bars and clubs have been cited.
"…Veterans coming into
the Forty and Eight American Legion post in
New Albany used to try their luck at machines
like Cherry Masters and Pot o'Gold.
"Since the crackdown, this American Legion,
as well as several others in southern Indiana,
have had a slowdown in business.
"Ad Jahn says the lost revenue from the
video poker means less money for charitable
programs sponsored by the post…"
