Illinois'
Casino Numbers Up
As reported by the Illinois
Post-Tribune: "Majestic Star set a record in
July, with revenues of $14.2 million, while nearly
all of Northwest Indiana's casino boats saw revenue
increases from a year ago.
"The five casinos reported total revenue of
$112.9 million, up slightly from $111.8 million
a year ago. But the revenues were a sharp increase
from June, when the five boats totaled $96 million.
"Majestic Star general manager Troy Keeping
credits his casino's marketing efforts for the winning
numbers. Former Chicago Bears Coach Mike Ditka has
been involved in promotions for about two years
for the Gary casino.
"…Horseshoe Casino continued to be the
region's revenue leader with $38.2 million compared
to $36.6 million a year ago. Trump's revenue rose
slightly, from $12.9 million in July to $12.3 million
a year ago.
"Resorts in East Chicago was the only casino
that saw its revenues decline from a year ago. Colony
Capital LLC bought the casino earlier this year
from Harrah's.
"…Blue Chip's revenues in Michigan City
were $22.4 million in July compared with $22.1 million
last year…"
