Casino Approved
As reported by the Reno Gazette-Journal:
"Lee Tanner, the woman leading the charge
against a plan to zone land for a hotel casino
at the base of Mount Rose, said Thursday the
Planning Commission's decision approving the
change was deflating, but the fight will go
on.
"…The
commission voted 6-0 early Thursday to approve
the Redfield Regional Center with a hotel casino
as an allowed use. The Reno City Council is
scheduled to consider the plan Nov. 16. Tanner
said she'll be sure south Reno residents make
their feelings clear.
"The
hot-button issue is a zoning change to allow
a hotel casino on 90 acres controlled by Las
Vegas-based Station Casinos.
"…Station
this week also launched a Web site about its
Reno projects, which include an approved hotel
casino across Virginia Street from the Reno-Sparks
Convention Center…"
