Kentucky
Casino Vote Bill Filed
As reported by the Kentucky
Courier-Journal: "A Woodford County legislator
filed bills yesterday that would let Kentucky
voters decide whether casinos should be allowed
solely at racetracks.
"The
filings set up a potential battle over expanded
gambling in the second half of the General Assembly
session.
"The
two House bills filed yesterday by Rep. Joe
Barrows, D-Versailles, closely mirror the casino
plan pushed by the Kentucky Equine Education
Project, he said last night.
"Casinos
could provide money to protect the leading role
of the state's signature horse industry, Barrows
said.
"…Barrows
said a referendum has more House and grass-roots
support than in previous sessions, but he declined
to guess whether it can pass…"
