Amateur
Poker Players Try Their Hand Against Seasoned
Pro Kathy Liebert in Online Tournament
Armchair poker champions across
the country will get a chance to put their chips
where their mouths are - literally - by going
head-to-head against Kathy Liebert in an online
No Limit Texas Hold 'em tournament. Considered
one of the best tournament poker players today,
Kathy will give players a run for their money
as they compete for an all expenses paid trip
for two to the 2nd Annual Caribbean Poker Classic
in St. Kitts.
Players won the
opportunity to test their skills against Kathy
through radio trivia contests held around the
country. Additionally, a satellite tournament
was held on October 17, 2005 on InterPoker,
where six players advanced to play against Kathy.
Beginning October 22, trivia contest and satellite
tournament winners will play online in the first
round of "Beat Kathy" Texas Hold 'em.
Winners of each first round table will advance
to the final table and battle for the Grand
Prize worth $10,000.
"Becoming
a professional poker player is fast becoming
the new American dream for sports fans,"
said InterPoker spokesperson Peter Marcus. "Part
of the allure of poker as a sport is you may
never catch a touchdown pass in the SuperBowl,
you may never hit a home run in the World Series,
but with practice and a little bit of luck,
you could win a hand against a professional
poker player."
"The
next best tournament champion could very well
come from this contest," said Liebert.
"Each year at the World Series of Poker
a virtual unknown will take the pros by storm,
and this tournament could be the starting point
for a promising aspiring poker professional,"
said Kathy Liebert.
Not
only may this contest launch an amateur into
the world of professional poker, it will give
a poker fan the chance to play face-to-face
against Kathy Liebert, and well-known poker
players such as World Poker Tour Champion Juhah
Helppi, 2005 WSOP "Lady's Night" Champion
Jennifer Tilly and 2002 WSOP "Main Event"
Champion Rob Varkonyi during the Caribbean Poker
Classic's Main Event in St. Kitts.
