Outlines Plans
There was no bravado, no
hype and no catchphrases. And there was no Trump.
"It was all very un-Trumplike as the new chief
executive of Donald Trump's casinos outlined his
strategy for reviving a company tainted by cash
shortages, bankruptcy and years of neglect.
"James B. Perry spoke Tuesday of the need
for new attractions at all three Trump properties
and a new hotel tower for the flagship Taj Mahal
Casino Resort, but also focused on more modest proposals
such as marketing studies and better customer service.
"Perry, who took over last month as president
and CEO of Trump Entertainment Resorts Inc., acknowledged
that the company must play catch-up to be more competitive
in Atlantic City's $4.6 billion-a-year gaming market.
But he promised no quick fixes or gimmicks.
"…Trump relinquished his CEO title to
Perry following the company's emergence from Chapter
11 bankruptcy protection in late May.
"…Perry, a once publicity-shy executive
who has about 30 years of experience in the gaming
industry, is said to be the opposite of the super-celebrity
Trump. Analysts describe him as a down-to-earth
manager who will bring stability and common-sense
business practices to the Trump organization…"
