Gambling Proposal Misses Deadline

Journal Gazette: "Fort Wayne Democratic
Rep. Win Moses Jr. decided not to file legislation
Tuesday that would have legalized some video
gambling in the state, passing up a legislative
deadline for this session.
"He
is the only lawmaker known to have been seriously
considering such a bill, but said the issues
were too complex for a 10-week short session.
"…But
in the end, Moses had trouble finding a GOP
co-author in the House. That trouble is because
House Speaker Brian Bosma doesn't want to deal
with anything that could be construed as expanding
gambling, Moses said.
"The
legalization of Cherry Master machines and other
electronic gambling devices has gained steam
since Gov. Mitch Daniels' administration began
citing more fraternal organizations and bars
for having the machines as well as disabling
them…"
