Slot Funded Arena Plan Find Support

Tribune-Review: "The Penguins picked up
support today from 18 local lawmakers for the
team's Pittsburgh First proposal to build an
arena and redevelop the Lower Hill District
with money from a slot machine casino.
"…The
Penguins have teamed up with Isle of Capri Casinos
of Biloxi, Miss., on a $1 billion project that
includes a casino, an arena and redevelopment
of the area around Mellon Arena.
"The
plan has the support of four state senators,
nine Democratic state representatives, four
members of Pittsburgh City Council and Allegheny
County Councilman Bill Robinson. Nine of them
attended the morning news conference to announce
their support…"
