Casino Workers to Strike

24: "Listed hotel and gaming group Peermont
Global (PTG) has announced that the Food and Allied
Workers Union (FAWU) has given formal notice to
its Emperors Palace Hotel, Casino and Convention
Resort of its intention to embark on strike action
at Emperors Palace with effect from 18:00 on Friday.
"However, Peermont said on Thursday, operations
at Emperors Palace would continue despite the strike
thanks to the implementation of extensive contingency
plans.
"Peermont Global is the majority shareholder
of Emperors Palace and also has management responsibility
for the resort.
"…The strike follows a period of wage
negotiations that started on June 1…"
