Hotel Bets on Casino

"Victorian publicans want to see pokies
in every pub. The Australian Hotel Association
believes caps on poker machine numbers should
be scrapped, allowing every hotel access to
gaming revenue.
"The
four-star Thistle Hotel in the St James Centre
is set to create a casino floor within the hotel.
"It
follows a change in licensing laws removing
a 24-hour 'cooling off' period, which effectively
meant hotel guests would not be able to use
any casino facilities.
"…The
casino would operate between noon and 6am and
would be available to hotel guests and members
of the public.
"…The
application lodged with the city council has
been made possible by a relaxation of gambling
laws following the passing of the Gambling Act
2005.
"…A
Thistle Hotels spokeswoman said: 'Thistle Hotels
can confirm that BiL Gaming, a subsidiary of
its parent company BiL International Ltd, has
submitted applications to operate casino facilities
at several Thistle Hotels.'…"
