Carson
Nugget Fined $20,000
Carson Nugget, the biggest casino
in Carson City, has agreed to pay a $20,000
fine to the state for repeated violations in
reporting its revenue from the slot machines
since 1992.
The
complaint filed Jan. 9 by the state Gaming Control
Board said the Nugget had received periodic
warnings, and it alleged that since November
1992 the board has been unable "to render
an opinion on the proper reporting of revenue
...(and) ... is unable to confirm that all gaming
revenues taxes due to the state of Nevada have
been paid."
In
addition, the complaint said the Nugget failed
to keep adequate records.
The
stipulation also requires the Nugget to hire
an independent accountant to review past slot
reports and try to determine the difference
between what was reported and what the actual
take was.
The
agreement will be presented to the Nevada Gaming
Commission Feb. 23 for its approval.
