Oregon Lottery
Reports Record Profits
As reported by Oregon Public
Radio: "The Oregon Lottery says the year that
ended July first saw record profits for state-run
gambling, just as the agency is putting electronic
slot machines in bars and restaurants. The 5% jump
in revenue last year is in line with annual increases
at the lottery over the last two decades.
"Lottery director Dale Penn says
he expects the new slot machines to boost revenue
even further, but those estimates aren't figured
into last year's sales numbers.
"…The Lottery finished the 2005 fiscal
year with $940 million dollars in profits. That's
$47 million more than the previous year."
