Group's Statements Criticized
As reported by the Gettysburg
Times: "A group supporting efforts to bring
a casino to Adams County has called a preservation
group's statements against the gaming facility
"deliberately misleading."
"Pro-Casino
of Adams County spokesman Jeff Klein, of Biglerville,
said the Civil War Preservation Trust misled
its members when it called the Gettysburg battlefield
'endangered,' and laid the blame on a casino
proposed to be built within a mile of a portion
of the battlefield.
"
'The thing they fail to mention is there's a
brand new car dealership closer to East Cavalry
Field than the casino is,' Klein said.
"He
also pointed out Pella Windows and Adams County
National Bank, two of the most visible businesses
in the Adams Commerce Park, both closer to East
Cavalry Field than the casino would be.
"Klein
also noted the Gettysburg National Military
Park has grown during the past 15 years, as
the National Park Service acquired properties
on its boundaries…"
