WPT Considers
Merger
As reported by Reuters: "WPT
Enterprises Inc. on Tuesday said it hired a
financial adviser to assist in exploring growth
alternatives, including the sale or merger of
its business, sending its shares up more than
8 percent.
"WPT
Enterprises, which created the television show
World Poker Tour and operates a gaming Web site,
said it wanted to explore ways to increase its
presence in the market for online gaming.
"Online
gambling, although illegal in the United States,
is expected to grow worldwide, with a report
by Christiansen Capital Advisors estimating
the online poker revenues to grow from about
$1 billion in 2004 to $6.7 billion by 2010…"
