Surprise
Win Hits Australian Bookies
As reported the Australia
Herald Sun: "Punters ripped an estimated $250,000
out of the Sydney betting ring when the Joseph Pride-trained
Le Bron won the Castanea Handicap (1300m) at Warwick
Farm yesterday.
"As much as $8.50 was bet on the
four-year-old but in an old-fashioned plunge firmed
to start the $3.50 favourite, giving Glen Boss a
winning treble.
"Leading bookmaker Colin Tidy said he lost
'a hatful of money' on Le Bron with bookmakers through
the ring estimating around a quarter of a million
dollars walked off the course…"
