Virginia City Considers Table Games
As reported by the Wheeling
News-Register: "Wheeling City Council is
scheduled to consider a resolution Tuesday,
Feb. 7, declaring its support of local option
elections to approve table gambling at racetracks.
"The
state Legislature recently introduced legislation
that, if approved, would allow local option
elections to take place in order to approve
licensure of authorized table games at racetrack
facilities in West Virginia.
"According
to the resolution, the city 'recognizes the
positive economic impact that the Wheeling Island
Racetrack and Gaming Center has on the city
and state; and it is important to provide the
citizens of Ohio County the opportunity to ...
vote on table gaming at the state's racetracks.'…"
