Casino Staff Walk Out

Stuff: "The union representing Hamilton
casino staff says workers may take further industrial
action after a three-hour stoppage on Saturday
night.
"Service
and Food Workers Union organiser Iriaka Rauhihi
said striking staff walked out at 8pm, including
bar, cashier, cleaning, kitchen, restaurant,
security and table staff.
"SkyCity
said about 40 rostered staff struck and 10 gambling
tables had to be shut down for the full three
hours. Another two tables were closed for 20
minutes until managers came in to help out.

110 people protested outside the casino in Victoria
St during the stoppage, Miss Rauhihi said. More
industrial action was a possibility.

regional secretary Lisa Eldret has complained
Hamilton staff are paid on average 25 per cent
less than workers at the Auckland casino, and
local staff want parity…"
