Casino Vote Clears Hurdle
As reported by the Desert Dispatch:
"The controversial local casino initiative
is headed for the ballot.
"In
San Bernardino County Superior Court Wednesday
in Barstow, Judge John P. Vander Feer decided
contents of a lawsuit aimed at blocking the
initiative from vote were "premature"
and threw the suit out.
"…The
suit was filed by a citizens' group and the
Los Coyotes tribe, who feel the initiative would
jeopardize a deal made between the City of Barstow,
the Los Coyotes and Big Lagoon Rancheria for
a proposed dual casino-resort project.
"…Residents
will vote on the initiative at the June 6 primary
