Signs Riverboat Revenue Deal
As reported by the Indiana Journal
Press: "Lawrenceburg signed on the dotted
line Tuesday, Jan. 17, to share $500,000 a year
with Franklin County 'as long as it (Lawrenceburg)
has riverboat revenue.
"City
council unanimously approved the revenue sharing
agreement with Franklin County from the development
agreement Lawrenceburg has with Argosy Casino
& Hotel.
"Council
also set up a $10 million grant disbursal plan
with nine counties, including Franklin. Franklin,
Ripley, Decatur, Bartholomew, Jackson, Jennings,
Jefferson, Union, and Fayette are eligible for
the money, said City Manager Tom Steidel.

agreement with Franklin County, and the $10
million grant plan are efforts to keep the Indiana
General Assembly from taking riverboat gambling
tax revenue from Lawrenceburg and Dearborn County
as threatened in the 2005 session, said Mayor
