Boyd's Treasure
Chest Reports No Significant Damage
Boyd Gaming Corporation today
reported that upon preliminary review, its Treasure
Chest Casino in Kenner, Louisiana, was not significantly
damaged as a result of Hurricane Katrina. However,
there is no assurance that a more detailed inspection
will not identify additional damage. The Company
does not know when operations at Treasure Chest
may resume.
William S. Boyd, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer
of Boyd Gaming, said, "We are deeply concerned
for the health and safety of our employees, and
they remain our highest priority at this point.
To help them in the near-term, we will continue
to pay our Treasure Chest employees for the next
eight weeks, assuming we are still closed, and then
we will re-evaluate the situation at that time.
First and foremost, our thoughts and prayers are
with all of those impacted by Hurricane Katrina."
The Company has established an employee assistance
hotline -- the number is 800.491.0711. The Company
has also set up a relief center at Sam's Town Tunica
in Mississippi, where its property has substantial
special event space, as well as additional rooms.
Finally, the Company has posted all of the relief
information on its web site at boydgaming.com, along
with additional information regarding relief assistance.
