Clubs Submits Casino Application
As reported by UK Times: "London
Clubs International (LCI), the casino operator,
has submitted an application to open a casino
at the Grosvenor House Hotel on London's exclusive
Park Lane, The Times has learnt.
"The
company plans to spend between £8 million
and £9 million creating a 19,000 sq ft
casino to cash in on the guests who use the
hotel's conference and banqueting facilities.
LCI has secured consent from the Gambling Commission
and has applied to Westminster magistrates for
a full gaming licence. The application is expected
to be one of the first to be heard when magistrates
reconvene.
"Barry
Hardy, LCI's executive deputy chairman, said
that, subject to licensing and planning consent,
the company had agreed with Marriott, which
operates Grosvenor House, to take a lease on
a former bank premises next door to the hotel.
"…The
development of a casino is part of a £90
million revamp of the Grosvenor House, which
will see the 76-year-old property transformed
into a 500-room JW Marriott hotel over the next
two years…"
