Calvin
Ayre Foundation Launches Web Site
Calvin Ayre, one of the pioneers
of online gaming, formally announced today the
launch of the Calvin Ayre Foundation web site.
The Foundation, which is federally registered
in Costa Rica, is active in supporting charitable
causes throughout the world.
Founded
by Mr. Ayre in 2004, the Foundation's aim is
to achieve meaningful and lasting improvements
in the environment and in the lives of disadvantaged
individuals and communities. The Foundation
focuses on promoting greater equity in five
broad areas: Environment, Education, Social
Development, Child Welfare and Animal Welfare.
Over
the years, Mr. Ayre's Bodog Entertainment Group
has worked with numerous national and international
charities. Among those organizations are the
Fisher House Foundation, the LA Lakers Youth
Foundation, the Humane Society, the Cystic Fibrosis
Foundation, the Animal Avengers Organization,
and the Sean McCauley Hope Foundation for Pediatric
Cancer.
"Through
the Calvin Ayre Foundation, we're able to cross
international borders," says Mr. Ayre.
"With fewer barriers, we are better able
to offer support for meaningful charitable causes."
The
Calvin Ayre Foundation supports the charitable
initiatives of other organizations as well as
those goals it lays out for its own projects.
One of the long-term initiatives the Foundation
is working on include the sponsorship of the
higher education needs of underprivileged youth.
As
well, the Foundation supports large-scale initiatives,
such as the Sponsor-A-School Project and the
Sponsor-A-Family Project. These programs are
the core of the Foundation, which directly manages
its money and the allocation of funds to the
various initiatives under its mandate.
"There
are few things that bring greater satisfaction
than witnessing the smiles on the faces of the
children we are actively sponsoring," says
Calvin Ayre, founder and chairman of the international
charitable foundation. "Our Adopt-a-School
Project, to cite one example, allows us to play
an integral role in improving the conditions
and care for the children attending primary
schools in Costa Rica."
Recently,
the Foundation was on hand for a telethon in
Costa Rica that supported the Critical Care
Tower of the National Children's Hospital.
