Boyd
Gaming Reports on Impact of Hurricane Rita
Boyd Gaming Corporation
today reported that, upon a preliminary assessment,
its Delta Downs Racetrack Casino and Hotel in
Vinton, Louisiana experienced wind and water
damage as the result of Hurricane Rita. Most
apparent is roof damage that allowed water to
enter the buildings. The building structures
appear to have suffered little to no damage
except for the horse barns. The Company is working
with contractors to further assess the damage
and commence work to restore the premises. The
Company at this time cannot give a timeframe
for the repairs or the reopening of the property.
William S. Boyd, Chairman and Chief
Executive Officer of Boyd Gaming, said, "We
are very focused on the health and safety of
our employees and their families, and they remain
our highest priority."
The Company further reported that its Sam's
Town Shreveport property was not damaged as
the storm moved through the area and that its
Treasure Chest property in Kenner, Louisiana,
remains closed due to conditions in the greater
New Orleans area. Treasure Chest, as previously
reported, sustained only minor physical damage
from Hurricane Katrina.
For its 1,065 Delta Downs employees, the Company
has established an employee assistance hotline
and the number is 866.767.2740 or 702.792.7371.
The Treasure Chest assistance line is 800.491.0711
or 702.792.7371. The Company also reported that
it has reached nearly all of its 1,031 Treasure
Chest employees. Information related to both
recovery efforts is available on boydgaming.com.
The Company's central relief center for both
properties is located at its Sam's Town Tunica
hotel casino in Mississippi.
