Spurred by the disclosure that a court appointee on Allegheny County's Board of Viewers is operations director for a casino trade association, state Sen. Jane Orie is seeking co-sponsors for legislation to extend prohibitions on involvement in gambling from the state judiciary to key court employees and appointees.

The president of Catskill Off-Track Betting Corp., which operates OTB locations in Broome and other counties, said Tioga Downs Casino is having a severe impact on its operations, taking gamblers and bets away.
