A barren stretch of road off U.S. Highway 17-92 could become a vibrant corridor, but first the Sanford Orlando Kennel Club and Northland church will probably have to come to terms on an issue that has long divided them: an expansion of gambling.

It's not surprising the Seminoles have balked at the revised gambling compact the Legislature has proposed. The terms aren't as favorable to the tribe as the 2007 deal that Gov. Charlie Crist brokered.
