Arrests following Thursday's illegal gambling sting have piled up faster than tokens in a Vegas slot machine. Sixteen people were arrested Thursday and Friday while DPS criminal intelligence investigators looked into numerous locations operating electronic eight-liner slot machines.

According to results from the 2008 Louisiana Study on Problem Gambling, pathological gambling addiction services continue to be in demand as the rate of pathological gamblers in the state remains steady. This news comes as the Department of Health and Hospitals - Office for Addictive Disorders prepares for its 10th Annual State Conference on Gambling Behavior on Nov. 5 - 7.
