Sun Ray Casino Fined
As reported by the Farmington Daily Times: "The State Gaming Control Board fined SunRay Park and Casino $7,500 for failing to notify state officials a 'key executive' faced criminal charges in December 2003. "The board issued the citation May 6, after former executive and local businessman Bernard Strunk, agreed to cut his ties as an executive with SunRay for five years. "'Mr. Strunk voluntarily got out of the gaming business about a year ago. He decided to pursue other endeavors,' said Strunk's attorney Jack Fortner. 'Whatever the gaming commission did wouldn't have mattered.' "
The Gaming Control Board sought to revoke Strunk's certification for oversight of the casino June 22, 2005, after he failed to notify the state within 10 days he faced criminal charges, state documents show. Strunk also faced an undisclosed fine. "
Gaming employees and management officials must be certified by the state, said Gaming Control Board Chairwoman Carla Lopez. Strunk's management role at SunRay required a Certificate of Finding of Suitability
