Mayor Criticizes Ex-Mayor's Casino Deal
As reported by the Associated Press: "Mayor Rudy Clay said he and city
attorneys will review a casino deal former mayor Scott King renegotiated
just months before he resigned and went to work for the casino developer.
"'Mayor Scott King went behind closed doors to shortchange the taxpayers of
$1.2 million. And before the ink was dry, he went to work for the man,' Clay
said. 'That just don't smell good to me.' "Developer Don Barden, who already
owned the Majestic Star lakefront casino, bought Donald Trump's adjacent
riverboat and hotel late last year and negotiated an amended agreement with
the city that reduces monthly payments from his adjusted gross income from
the Trump boat..."
